Savannah Leaders Join Together in SavannahSTRONG Sing-Along Video

(SAVANNAH, GA) In the midst of the uncertainty that surrounds the City of Savannah during this pandemic, Cecilia Russo Turner of Cecilia Russo Marketing, LLC brought the City’s Mayor and other local business, government and community leaders “together forever” in song, showing the world that the sun will come out in Savannah, Georgia, “tomorrow.”

“Savannah is so strong and I know that together we will come out of this better and stronger – hopefully sooner rather than later,” said Russo Turner. “But, in the meantime, we need to focus on something uplifting. My hope is that this video will be a warm, authentic, virtual hug.”

Choosing the “Tomorrow” and “I Don’t Need Anything But You” songs from the musical “Annie” for this sing-along seemed like an obvious choice for Russo Turner. The original Broadway production, which debuted in 1977, tells a story of an 11-year-old orphan finding love, happiness and family just as America looked forward to future prosperity in the wake of the Great Depression.

Now, almost 50 years later, the lyrics, which have stood the test of time, continue to instill a sense of hope and comfort, even with the emotional context of the current cultural climate. “These two songs in any other time, sung in any other way, have never had as powerful a meaning as they do right now,” said Russo Turner. “When you hear these words sung by these leaders while you are feeling what we are all feeling right now, you get goosebumps. This gives a whole new meaning to Savannah Strong.”

Russo Turner said she was inspired by her best friend Ann who she turns to for everything. “It was like an ah-ha moment,” she said. “Whenever I’m sad and depressed and looking for a little direction, I have always been able to turn to my best friend.  She’s like a sister to me and her name is Ann Searcy. Since we were three years old, I always have and always will call her Annie. Then it hit me… let’s all sing a song or two from Annie!”

The Savannah leaders featured in this video are listed in order of appearance as follows:

“I truly cannot thank each of these wonderful leaders enough for entrusting us with their voices and their joyful faces,” said Russo Turner. “The sun will come out tomorrow. We will get through this if we all stick together. And now is the time to unify our city, our country and our world.”
